New Yamaha P115 and P45 Pianos | Updates to P105 / P35
Posted by Austin Bazaar on 24th Mar 2015
Now that Yamaha has announced the release of their new P-45 and P-115 digital pianos, you may be wondering what's new with these updated versions of their popular P-105 and P-35 models. Read on to find out more about the Yamaha P115 and Yamaha P45, which are scheduled to hit stores in April 2015.
Difference between Yamaha P45 and P35
Before the P45 was developed, the Yamaha P35 was the most affordable 88-key weighted-keyboard digital piano offered by Yamaha. One of the features that made the Yamaha P35 such a great choice for beginners was its high-quality Graded Hammer Action keyboard, which features more responsive higher keys and lower keys that require a heavier touch - just like on a real piano.
The Yamaha P-45 digital piano has that same great keyboard technology along with improved piano sound and an upgrade to 64-note max polyphony (vs. 32 on the P-35). They also made the switch from 5-pin MIDI to USB/host port with the P-45, which is a nice touch as the piano is now more compatible with certain computers and devices like the iPad and iPhone.
The new P45 also features Dual Mode, which allows you to combine two of the 10 built in voices (i.e. piano and strings) for a more engaging and versatile playing experience. This model is geared toward beginner players and offers all of the basic features needed in a digital piano in a compact, lightweight package.

Difference between Yamaha P115 and P105
The Yamaha P115 digital piano is a step up from the P45, offering improved sound quality and cool additional features that will be appreciated by more experienced players. Aside from its powerful Pure CF Sound System (sampled from Yamaha's acclaimed 9' CFIIIS concert grand piano), the P-115 features 192 note polyphony (vs. 128 on the old version of this piano, the P-105) and improved Damper Resonance & Reverb effects.
Other upgrades from the P-105 to the P-115 include additional drum rhythms, a speaker On/Off (to disable the on-board speakers while using the Aux line out) and Sound Boost, which adds some EQ and volume to help you cut through the mix when playing in small ensembles. The P-115 features Dual Mode just like on the P-45, along with the ability to split the keyboard into two halves (each with their own "middle C") so you can practice or play with a partner. You can also use the built-in 2-track recorder to record practices or song ideas and export using the USB/host out.
